Shawn has been married to his wife Laura for 17 years and they have three sons, Jacob, 6th grade Jared, 4th grade and Joshua, soon to be wrestler, 4 years old. When he’s not involved with wrestling you could find him chasing walleyes on Devils Lake or some sort of animal some where in the state. Coach Franek is USA wrestling Copper level certified. Dean has been coaching with Tech Team for 6 years. Both his boys have been with Tech Team for that length of time. He knows that with hard work and the right mental mindset, all of the Tech Team kids can outwork their opponent and can look forward to successes in the future; both in wrestling and their work career. He has been known to run hard conditioning practices when Coach Ryan is not available. Dean has found that the Tech Team coaches get along very well and communicate what can be improved for our club and for the individual wrestlers. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting (Deer, Antelope, and Pheasants) in the Fall and fishing in the Summer when wrestling season is winding down.

Bernie  Worral
Fargo,  ND

Hometown: Elma, NY
High School: Iroquois Central
College: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
Family: Carolyn, Hannah, Katie, Caleb and Joshua
Years Coaching: 7
Bernie’s high school wrestling team in Western New York had the distinction of holding the national record that Bismarck High broke for consecutive dual meet wins. He continued wresting beyond high school in the collegiate and freestyles through the 1980s. But says he has learned more in the past seven years coaching youth wrestling than in those many years wrestling. “First, the sport has changed that much since then. Second, teaching forces you to learn things through and through. Also there is so much more exposure to great resources both right in our own practice room, and on line and in the libraries. I’m always amazed at the depth of this sport and continue to learn and grow in it.” Favorite moves? They were the fireman’s carry, low single, cross face series, and the granby Peterson roll. What I most appreciate learning since those days is the funk wrestling/scrambling style, and Greco Roman. Two highlights as a coach was the experience with the ND national schoolboy dual team two years ago, and most recently getting the bronze certification with USA Wrestling. Coach Worral serves as a parish pastor at Immanuel Lutheran (LCMS) in North Fargo with an emphasis on college students at NDSU. He has been in Fargo since 1991. His wife Carolyn hails from Wahpeton, ND, formerly Trittin. Daughter Hannah is at NDSU; Katie is a senior and Fargo North. Caleb and Joshua attend Grace Lutheran School and are active in wrestling. His undergraduate studies were at Ann Arbor, MI; graduate school in St Louis, MO.
